librtlsdr-dev software package provides Software defined radio receiver for Realtek RTL2832U (library), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install librtlsdr-dev
librtlsdr-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the librtlsdr-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep librtlsdr-dev *
You will get with librtlsdr-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
